The Big Thaw Car Show at UMass Lowell
Lowell, MA. March 28. The Riverview parking lot on the corner of Pawtucket Street and Broadway Street.
The inaugural Big Thaw Car Show at UMass Lowell is for all of those people who love cars, music, prizes and good company. All kinds of vehicles are welcome, whether its your car, truck, bike, favorite jalopy, or race car (on a trailer, of course). Located right next to the most beautiful location on the Merrimack River, the Riverview parking lot on the corner of Pawtucket Street and Broadway Street is going to be rockin' on March 28th.
This event is a fundraiser for the UMass Lowell Formula SAE race car engineering team, River Hawk Racing.
$5 per vehicle to enter your vehicle into the show field. This includes a ticket for the person who registered the vehicle.
$1 per person general admission if you do not enter a vehicle in the competition, including any passengers arriving in vehicles that have been entered in the show
Preregistration is necessary, as there are a limited number of spaces for the show that will be given on a first come, first serve basis and may be filled before the event.
To preregister your vehicle(s), send an email to Ryan McIntosh (Event Organizer) at ryanmcintosh24@gmail.com. Be sure to note if you would like to be placed with a specific group or club, other than the general categories that the show is split into.
Include in the email:
(1) Your name
(2) Address
(3) Phone Number
(4) Are you a student or faculty member at the University of Massachusetts Lowell?
(5) Vehicle(s) that are being entered (For each entry, include the make, model, year, whether that vehicle is stock or modified, and whether that vehicle will be brought on a trailer). The registration fee of $5 per vehicle will be collected at the event (cash only)
(6) Are you entering the event as a member of a group or club? If so, what group do you want to be placed with? We will do our best to accommodate clubs or groups of people looking to park together.
There will be a drawing for $50 cash of anyone who pre-registers their vehicle(s) by March 21st. Once we receive your registration, you will be sent a confirmation email with a registration number for the event. Print that email out and bring it with you to the event.
Vehicle setup begins the day of the event at 9am and will continue throughout the day. Spectator admission will begin at 10am, and the show will continue until 4pm. Vehicles must be removed from the premises by 6pm. Are you a student, faculty member, or staff at the University of Massachusetts Lowell? Bring your University id card to the event, as there will be a special prize for vehicles that are entered in the competition for UMass Lowell students and staff.
The preregistration prize winner will be drawn after the event from vehicles that have both attended the show and preregistered. The winner will be notified and is responsible for claiming their prize by April 5th; otherwise, the prize will be considered forfeited.
There will be parking assistance and ample space between vehicles, but you are responsible for your vehicle. Please be responsible and safe. This is a family friendly event and a zero tolerance drug and alcohol policy will be in effect. Do not bring drugs or alcohol onto the premises, or have alcohol or drugs in your vehicle or on your person; failure to comply with the alcohol and drug policy of this event will result in your being asked to leave the premises. There will be a UMass Lowell Police detail at the event.
Neither the University, show chairman, sponsor, nor any other officer, director or shareholder thereof shall be responsible or liable for any personal injury to the Exhibitor or any person affiliated with Exhibitor, including but not limited to any person or minor under the direction and/or control of the Exhibitor, and the Exhibitor, on behalf of itself and any such person and/or minor, as the case may be, hereby waives any such claim for personal injury. Additionally, the Exhibitor agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the University against any claim for personal injury by itself or any person and/or minor under the direction and/or control of the Exhibitor. The Exhibitor hereby assumes all risk and shall be solely responsible, hereby waiving any claim against any third party including but not limited to the University for any loss or damage to all or any part of the Exhibitor’s personal property, which shall specifically include, but not be limited to, the Exhibitor’s vehicle, trailer, display, material and/or parts. The Exhibitor hereby expressly waives any and all rights the Exhibitor may have against any of them for such loss or damage. Exhibitor agrees to obtain insurance covering the above and assumes full responsibility for any loss or damage. Nothing herein shall be modified unless consented to by the University in writing.
